Soarion Credit Union has established a Government Furlough Assistance Program to provide financial relief to members facing temporary financial hardships resulting from involuntary furloughs caused by a government shutdown. This program is specifically designed to assist members whose income is directly impacted by the suspension of government operations, ensuring they have access to immediate support during this challenging time. By offering targeted financial solutions, Soarion reaffirms its commitment to helping members navigate the economic difficulties associated with government shutdowns.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the Government Furlough Assistance Program, Soarion members must have an active membership established prior to the start of the furlough. If verification through direct deposit is not available, members may be required to provide a letter from their employer, government agency, or entity confirming their furlough status.

Program Assistance

Direct Deposit Advance

 

Members receiving direct deposit through Soarion may request an advance of up to the maximum amount of their typical deposit. Advances are debited in full upon receipt of the first direct deposit following the end of the furlough.

  • Members are eligible for up to one month’s total average direct deposits.
  • Advances are credited on the member’s regular payday.
  • Additional limits or program extensions will be determined by Soarion if the furlough lasts beyond one month.

Loan Extension

 

Members may request a loan extension for up to one month. If the furlough extends beyond one month, a second extension may be granted (total of two months). Beyond this, members may explore additional support options, such as the Direct Deposit Advance.

  • Members must have a loan due date within 15 days of the request.
  • If direct deposit is not through Soarion, members must provide a furlough letter or Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) unless an essential employee.
